How to Survive and Thrive: Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

The 37th annual Georgette Shatford Memorial Lecture Series. Each year, NAMI San Gabriel Valley, in partnership with Pacific Clinics, hosts a FREE lecture series to help families understand the impacts of mental illness. This year's series will be VIRTUAL.

This presentation is on obsessive compulsive disorder, what it is, treatment, helpful skills, and the latest scientific insights and will be given by psychologist Barbara Van Noppen and psychiatrist Adam C. Frank. Dr. Van Noppen’s lecture will include an emphasis not only on how OCD works, but how it affects families and relationships, and how family members can work together for positive outcomes. Drs. Van Noppen and Frank will be joined by Chris Tronsden and his mother Liz Trondsen who will share Chris's story of living with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.

The program is suitable for anyone with an interest in learning about this diagnosis, including patients, family members, friends, and health care workers.

The presentation will be 1 1/2 to 2 hours long with a brief break in the middle and time for Q & A at the end of the program. Attendees will never be on camera. You may submit your questions any time during the program using the Q & A function.
